Ask Steed publishing app · Effective 5 October 2026
Summary
The Ask Steed publishing app is a private tool that publishes Ask Steed's own videos to Ask Steed's own accounts. It handles only the minimum information needed to do that, keeps it on a private server, and never sells or shares it.
What the app collects
Only from the Ask Steed accounts that the creator connects:
- Basic account information provided by each platform's sign-in (for TikTok: the account's ID, display name, avatar and profile, via the
user.info.basicanduser.info.profilepermissions). - The connected account's own public statistics, such as follower count and likes (TikTok
user.info.stats), and a list of its own published videos with their view counts (TikTokvideo.list), used only to show the creator how Ask Steed's posts are performing. - Permission to upload and publish videos to the connected account (TikTok
video.uploadandvideo.publish). - Access tokens issued by each platform, so the app can upload and publish on the account's behalf.
- The videos, captions and settings the creator schedules, and the status of each post.
The app does not collect information about viewers, followers or any other TikTok users, and does not use cookies or tracking for visitors to this website.
How it's used
Only to upload and publish the creator's scheduled content to the connected accounts, to show the creator whether each post succeeded, and to show the creator simple performance numbers for Ask Steed's own posts.
Where it's stored
Account information and access tokens are kept on a private, self-hosted server controlled by the Ask Steed creator. Uploaded videos are stored in cloud storage (Cloudflare R2) at unlisted web addresses, so the platforms can retrieve them for publishing; they are videos that are about to be published publicly anyway.
Sharing
Information is never sold or shared with anyone, except that content is sent to the platform it is being published on, as requested by the creator.
Keeping and deleting data
Access tokens are kept only while an account is connected. Disconnecting an account in the app, or removing the app's access in the platform's settings (for TikTok: Settings and privacy → Security → Manage app permissions), stops all access, and the stored tokens are deleted. Uploaded videos can be deleted by the creator at any time.
